Chandelier Lighthouse – a contemporary beacon of light

The chandelier ‘Lighthouse’ is a reinterpretation of the lighthouse light combining the groundbreaking invention of the Fresnel lens with modern lens technology in an experimental design.
The modern Fresnel lenses create a magical, playful light that sparks curiosity and reflection. As a symbolic and contemporary beacon, the light provides guidance and wondrous experiences for those who encounter it on their journey.
The Lighthouse chandelier is envisioned as a “House of Light”—a large, welcoming, and warm space that symbolises safety and guidance. Its scale of 120 cm in diameter creates an open and spacious presence, while the 144 clear lenses act like small windows, offering unique optical views of the light’s construction.

The chandelier offers a range of optical experiences: In natural daylight, the lenses have a bluish appearance, while without natural daylight, the lenses become clear and the light takes on a warmer tone.
Combining the Fresnel lenses with light presented a unique challenge as it was difficult to predict the final light quality and optical effects. To address this, scale models were made to test focal points and Lise experimented with different diffuser films recommended by Ingemann.

While the lenses were sourced from a separate supplier, the Ingemann team tested the cutting quality and were able to deliver outstanding results. Their expertise and careful craftsmanship enabled them to not only overcame technical challenges but also spark new ideas for working with light.
